2024 U.S. Senate Resolution

On March 1, 2024, a bipartisan group of senators sponsored Senate Resolution 570, officially designating Friday, March 1, 2024, as National Speech and Debate Education Day! This resolution recognizes the vital role speech and debate education plays in developing students’ communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills.

S.Res.570 was introduced by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and co-sponsored by: Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming), Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee), Sen. Christopher A. Coons (D-Delaware), Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-North Dakota), Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Sen. Steve Daines (R-Montana), Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Illinois), Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Mississippi), Sen. Angus S. King (I-Maine), Sen. 2023 U.S. Senate Resolution

On February 14, 2023, a record-breaking 17 senators sponsored Senate Resolution 61, declaring Friday, March 3, 2023, as NSDE Day. Iowa and Utah also passed state resolutions to celebrate the day, and Arkansas declared March National Speech and Debate Education Month! Co-sponsors of S.Res.61 include Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), Sen. Christopher Coons (D-Delaware), Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming), Sen. Katie Britt (R-Alabama), Sen. Tom Carper (D-Delaware), Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-North Dakota), Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Sen. Steve Daines (R-Montana), Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Illinois), Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Mississippi), Sen. Angus S. King (I-Maine), Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota), Sen. 2022 U.S. Senate Resolution

On March 4, 2022, the educational value of speech and debate, along with hard work of our member students and coaches, was recognized by the United States Senate.
