Material may be translated and performed in English with a few additional rules. Remember, all material must meet the general rules requiring that the original source in its original language is publicly accessible via an internet search or URL, and the website must not be password protected or require an access code.
Additionally, if translating material, competitors must also present a printed official translation of the original source to be used in the case of a protest. What is an official translation? There are two ways in to obtain an official translation:
- An official translation is obtained through the original source’s producer, licensing agent, or copyright holder.
- Or, an official translation is obtained through a translation service which uses non-automated, manual translation. Then, the competitor receives approval to perform the translation by the original source’s producer, licensing agent, or copyright holder.
